Official Name

World Parliament of Political Prisoners

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners is a political, human-rights, people-based, and international institution formed on the foundation of the experience, suffering, resistance, and testimony of political prisoners, detainees, torture survivors, exiles, political refugees, families of victims, and defenders of freedom around the world.

We believe that a political prisoner is not merely an imprisoned individual; a political prisoner is a living document of injustice, resistance, and the pursuit of human rights.

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners has been formed to prevent the continuation of oppression, executions, torture, discrimination, repression, political imprisonment, censorship, unfair trials, threats against families, forced displacement, and the repetition of political and human-rights crimes worldwide.

Article Four: Opposition to Torture and Political Execution

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners condemns all forms of torture, forced confession, solitary confinement, threats against families, denial of medical treatment, unfair trial, political execution, state killing, and enforced disappearance.

Article Seven: Preventing Discrimination

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners opposes all forms of discrimination based on belief, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, nationality, social class, political belief, lack of religion, or family background.

Article Ten: Human-Rights and International Cooperation

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners will cooperate and coordinate with human-rights organizations, institutions defending freedom, independent media, international associations, and official human-rights bodies.

Article Twelve: Support for Political, Social, and Ideological Refugees

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners can, within its capacity and available resources, support political, social, and ideological refugees around the world.

Fundamental Goals of the World Parliament of Political Prisoners

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners has been formed to prevent the continuation of oppression, repression, execution, torture, discrimination, censorship, political imprisonment, forced confession, unfair trials, threats against families, denial of medical treatment, forced displacement, the abandonment of political refugees, and violations of human dignity.

To prevent the continuation of oppression and repression against oppressed people and nations throughout the world.

The World Parliament of Political Prisoners pursues the following actions for the practical defense of political prisoners and victims of repression worldwide.

Official Explanation of the Colors and Central Emblem of the Flag of the World Parliament of Political Prisoners

Dark Blue: 

Dark blue symbolizes the documentation of truth, monitoring, exposure of violations, collection of testimonies, delivery of the voices of victims, and the pursuit of action before international courts.


Yellow:
Yellow symbolizes warning, urgent action, moral pressure, the saving of human lives, and the defense of prisoners of conscience, political prisoners, social prisoners, and all prisoners who, in any way and under any accusation, have been subjected to injustice.


Light Blue:
Light blue symbolizes human dignity, justice, fundamental rights, international follow-up, legal and humanitarian support, consultation, protection, and efforts to establish and preserve the identity of victims, prisoners, and political refugees.

  • The Central Emblem:
    The central emblem of the flag represents the global mission of defending political prisoners and all human beings who have been subjected to oppression, repression, injustice, and violations of their human rights.


  • The green color in the emblem symbolizes peace, calm, human security, hope, protection of human dignity, and the prevention of oppression and injustice against human beings. It expresses the belief that the purpose of this flag is not only to protest oppression, but also to stand for a more peaceful, humane, and oppression-free world.


  • The globe at the center represents the world of humanity, all countries, all nations, and all people of the international community. It shows that the defense of political prisoners is not limited to one country or one nation, but is a global responsibility connected to the conscience of humankind.


  • The stars beside the emblem symbolize the European Union and also represent international solidarity, cooperation, and cross-border support for human rights.
  • The words Truth, Dignity, Justice, and Freedom inside the emblem express the foundational principles of the flag: revealing the truth, protecting human dignity, pursuing justice, and defending freedom.
